Introduction to Anita Bras

One of my most popular brands is one that many of you many people have not have heard of.  Anita is one of the top German brands, but their products are relatively new in the UK.

It is still a family owned business and they have been determined (unusually) not to grow too quickly.  We are now one of their top retailers, and all of my bra fitters have attended their bra and breast form courses at their head office in Germany.

I love this brand as the ranges are really well made, with great quality materials. They are some of the most comfortable bras you can buy - including my all time favourite - the "5490 ".  This is THE most comfortable bra I have ever tried.  Highly recommended.

They also make bras that go up to a large back and cup size, which is a great option for many of my customers.

Anita split their products into five different categories - and you can tell from them how specialist their approach is.  They have really focused on where there are particular "technical" issues with bras.  The ranges are:

Comfort - a range of non-wired bras and swimwear

Active - their range of award winning Sports  Bras

Maternity - a range of nursing and maternity lingerie - including one of the only underwired nursing bras on the market.

Care - a range of mastectomy bras and prosthesis - including their fantastic lightweight breast forms.

and finally

Rosa Faia - their more fashionable range, but still really comfortable and including the fantastic 5490.

Geraldine wins Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Lingerie expert Geraldine Hurd, owner of Betty and Belle in Altrincham, has been named as the Specsavers Everywoman Entrepreneur of the year.  These prestigious awards recognise the achievements of dynamic women leading the way in the retail industry, and excelling in their careers.   

Geraldine accepted the award at a glittering ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel.  The event’s keynote speaker was Karren Brady, Lord Sugar’s right hand woman on The Apprentice.

Speaking about her win Geraldine said:  “I am over the moon to receive this award, it makes all the hard work seem worthwhile.  I hope it inspires more women with a real passion for retail  to take the leap into setting up their own business.  I would also like to thank all of my team, who have proven that good old fashioned service is still relevant in today’s world.”

Geraldine fought off stiff competition from across the UK, and was one of only three nominees from the Noth West to make it into the finals. 

Dame Mary Perkins MBE, founder of Specsavers commented:  “I congratulate all the winners in this year’s awards – to come this far shows commitment, resourcefulness and true retail flair – each is a shining example to all women in business.”

Breast Forms and Prosthesis

I have started a site to specialise in breast forms for ladies who have had a mastectomy.

I have a range available from Anita, Amoena and Trulife - three of the largest and most highly regarded manufacturers serving the UK market.

Amoena is a German manufacturer who specialise in the mastectomy market (both lingerie and breast forms.  Anita are another German company who provide some great mastectomy products as well as a range of non-mastectomy lingerie.  Trulife are an American company, and one of the largest suppliers of medical prostheses in the world.

I have put on all the breast forms that I think are the best from each manufacturer - so you won't find them all.  I have to say, my first port of call are usually the Anita Breast Forms - I think they have the best lightweight breast forms I have come across.  I love their light weight silicone - it is really nice to the touch, and their "Flex-Gap" system gives the boobs a natural bounce.

For self adhesive breast forms I would go for the Amoena Breast Forms - their adhesive technology is superior to any of the other manufacturers.  Finally for swim forms - it is a toss up between Trulife and Amoena.

However, in general terms I do find that ladies are fiercely loyal to whatever brand their first breast care nurse gave them - and ultimately it is really up to them which one they want.

Small Cup Bras From Betty and Belle

I stock bras that start at AAA cup - I think this is the smallest bra cups size that you can buy.

My AAA bras are only available in sizes 32AAA, 34AAA, and 36AAA.

My favouite of the bunch is the Royce Enhance Bra - its a very pretty bra as well as being discreetly padded out. 


I have now also restructured my site to simplify the shopping experience.

I have separated out my size listings off bras from my swimwear collection.  This should really simplify things as when you search by size you will now just see a listing of either bras or swimwear - not a big long list of both.
